The National Gateway to Self-Determination Web Portal is a clearinghouse for resources, training, and information on promoting self-determination for people with disabilities. This site provides a single access for self-advocates, professionals, policy-makers, families, and the general public on the current best practices and evidence-based activities in enhancing self-determination in the lives of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
The site is a dissemination source for the National Training Initiative on Self-Determination, which is funded by the Administration on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (AIDD). Leadership of the National Training Initiative is comprised of representatives from five University Centers for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UCEDD), also funded by ADD. Five partner University Centers on Excellence in Developmental Disabilities make up the consortium, including the University of Missouri-Kansas City Institute for Human Development, the West Chester Institute for Human Development, the Kansas University Center on Developmental Disabilities, the University of Oregon Center on Human Development, and the University of Illinois-Chicago Institute on Disability and Human Development.
