National Technical Assistance Center for Voting and Cognitive Access

This website resource is The National Technical Assistance Center for Voting and Cognitive Access. They support protection and advocacy systems, ensure people with disabilities have access to polling places and their right to vote is maintained. The Center is funded by a Helping America Vote Act grant from Administration on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities in partnership with the National Disability Rights Network. The Center produces materials to increase cognitive access to voting information and to provide accessible voter education training curriculum that can be edited to make it state specific. This Center is managed and operated by leaders with intellectual and other disabilities.

The U.S. Election Assistance Commission has collaborated with local election officials to develop a series of helpful tips for election management. This series provides ideas and suggests best practices to help make voting more accessible for voters with disabilities. The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the Help America Vote Act (HAVA) require that all Americans have the same opportunity to participate in the voting process, privately and independently. These tips and examples can help make voting accessible for people with disabilities.
